About the Armada ARV 116 JJ UL
The 2023 Armada 116 JJ UL is the definitive ski for a backcountry freestyle ski, with effortless float capabilities. The Zero collection consists of skis that are born out of the desire to push industry standards and be uncompromising in their design to best serve their athletes, which was the whole reason that Armada was born in the first place.
With a 116mm waist, twin-tip shape and playful rocker and flex profile, this ski is your go-to weapon for transferring freestyle creativity from a park and all-mountain setting into deeper snow. The Caruba core is 15% lighter than poplar but has equal performance and works perfectly with camber underfoot to provide a lively rebound and energy to the ski. Armada's proprietary AR75 sidewall again gives you some of the best of both- low weight and durable cap construction in the tip & tail with plenty of power transmission from the sidewall underfoot.
Some of the best tech in this ski can be found in the tips & tails. Smear Tech adds a 3D shape to these areas of the ski designed to increase surface area and make for an extra smooth transition through the snow. As well as this, the JJ 116 uses a Laminate Matrix which is a directional layering of fiberglass that dictates the flex pattern and torsional rigidity to create a manoeuvrable, forgiving, and lively ski.
These features function in unison with the rocker profile to make the ski feel amazingly smooth, smeary, and buttery- perfect for floating and playing through the trees and deep snow.
The use of lightweight materials throughout the ski has resulted in the 116 JJ UL being 25% lighter than the original 116 JJ ski. This is the perfect tool for the powder hound looking to take freestyle aspects into the backcountry, jumping off natural features, and cutting through meters of deep powder.
