About the Atomic Backland 100
The Backland series from Atomic is their ski touring focused range, a collection of ultralight and sturdy skis specifically designed for endurance ski touring and mountaineering missions. The Backland 100 is a versatile freeride touring ski that is at home in a wide range of snow conditions and terrains.
It features a Powder Rocker profile to offer great agility and floatation in backcountry conditions. Whilst the Dura Cap sidewalls help to control power transmission and provide excellent grip, the Backland 100 can hold its own on fresh groomers as well.
With a wider waist width and an Atomic HRZN Tech Tip, the Backland 100 can still hold its own in the deep stuff. The HRZN Tip adds 10% more surface area to this area of the ski for better floatation and better tracking through chop/crud.
The construction of the ski consists of an ultra-light wood core that blends Poplar and Caruba wood to keep the weight low without compromising downhill performance. A Carbon Backbone is also added to boost torsional strength. This is a carbon insert that runs the length of the ski helping stability, strength, and agility.
Partner the Backland 100 with a set of skins and you've got yourself a set-up that is ready to take on any freeride touring adventure.
