About the Atomic Backland 107
The Backland series from Atomic is their ski touring focused range, a collection of ultralight and sturdy skis specifically designed for endurance ski touring and mountaineering missions. The Backland 107 is a backcountry touring ski that floats in powder with ease and takes on the biggest drops, but it also maintains a lightweight chassis to scale epic climbs.
At 107mm underfoot it is one of the widest freeride touring skis, it also features a Powder Rocker profile to offer great agility and floatation in backcountry conditions. Like other skis in Atomic's lineup, it uses an HRZN tech tip which adds an extra 10% surface area to the ski tips for better floatation and tracking.
The construction of the ski consists of an ultra-light wood core that blends Poplar and Caruba wood to keep the weight low without compromising downhill performance. A Carbon Backbone is also added to boost torsional strength. This is a carbon insert that runs the length of the ski helping stability, strength, and agility.
The Backland 107 is the ski of choice for freeride athletes Sage Cattabriga-Alosa and Nick McNutt, proving their capability on taking on the biggest backcountry terrain. It's a multipurpose backcountry performance ski perfect for the advanced to expert skiers looking to fully embrace the backcountry environment.
