The ATC-XP is a lightweight belay device that is really versatile, it's completely at home with everything from indoor rock climbing to alpine ice climbing! The ATC-XP offers variable-friction modes. On one side of the device there are 'V-grooves' which create three times more friction and therefore more stopping power when lowering your partner. The other side of the device is used as a more conventional belay device, offering less friction and therefore a quicker, smoother, ride down for your partner, this mode is much better for rappelling.
his is a great, solid, versatile belay and rappelling device which caters for twin ropes in a wide range of sizes, from 7.7mm - 11mm and still only weighs 89g! Paired up with the Mini Pearabiner Screwgate carabiner which is a compact, lightweight locker with a non-snagging keylock nose and a screwlock sleeve with a large rope-bearing surface for smooth belays and rappels. This combo is a must-have for climbers of all abilities!
