About the Black Diamond Camalot Z4
The all-new Black Diamond Camalot Z4 Camming device sets a new standard when it comes to single-stem cams, featuring the patent-pending RigidFlex stem. The Z4s are available in sizes ranging from #0, Black Diamond's smallest ever cam, up to size .75.
The Camalot Z4s use Black Diamond's innovative RigidFlex stem, which stays rigid during placement but flexes when climbing. RigidFlex utilises floating trigger wires to ensure the cam does not bend and retract under tension. Instead, the stem is allowed to flex, ensuring a placement that stays put and doesn’t walk when pulled directionally.
With a similar head-width as the Camalot C3 design, the Z4 instead contains 4 lobes that are sandblasted for better holding power. The smaller Z4 sizes feature Black Diamond's single cable construction that avoid buckling when pulling hard on the trigger. The larger sizes meanwhile use a dual twisted cable construction that allow uniform flex in all directions.
The Z4 was created after consultation with top trad-climbing Black Diamond Athletes Hazel Findlay, Carlo Traversi, Sam Elias, and Babsi Zangerl.
