About the Blue Ice Bluebird Lightweight Adze
The Bluebird ice axe from Blue Ice is an update to the classic mountaineering tool with a highly technical construction. 10% lighter than it's predecessor the new Bluebirds raises the standard of functionality and performance.
The Bluebird features a hot-forged head and spike for maximum strength with a special surface treatment to prevent rust. An ergonomic head offers a comfortable grip when used in the 'cane' position, while the improved pick design delivers technical performance. Both the head and spike include a large eyelet to accommodate a carabiner clip or leash. Shaft construction uses aircraft-grade anodised aluminium, sandblasted for improved grip.
For convenience, the Bluebird includes both Blue Ice's Spike Protector and their Pick & Adze Protector for safe transportation and storage.
