About the Full Tilt (now K2) First Chair 100 GW
The 2021 Fist Chair 100 Grip Walk is the new replacement for the original First Chair 8, with a medium flex rating. Full Tilt has now brought their flex rating system to now be aligned with other manufacturers, the 100 is equivalent to what Full Tilt use to offer as their 8 tongues. Intermediates or those with lighter builds will find the 100 flex tongue offers plenty of support for charging the mountain in all conditions, whereas heavier and more experienced riders, especially those spending a lot of their time in the park, will enjoy the smooth flex for pressing into butters and absorbing landings.
Updated for the 2021 season Full Tilt has upgraded the First Chair to a Classic Tongue Liner. As a result, it opens up more space in the toe box but gives a much better hold across the instep of the boot which locks the heel in the back of the boot to allow for greater responsiveness and fit. With professional heating or through extended use, the high-density closed cell foam moulds to the shape of the foot and inner boot to increase energy transfer and power to the shell while creating a unique and incredibly comfortable fit around the wearer. Furthermore, the cuff of the liner is reinforced to give better responsiveness to the boot plus it also has lacing loops for that extra fit around the lower leg.
With a boot width coming in at 99mm, the First Chair 100 GW is a narrow to medium fitting boot and uses the Full Tilt Soul Shell - an updated version of their classic shell using the same dimensions and construction, but with a slightly roomier toe box just to keep things extra comfy. All Full Tilt boots feature a heat mouldable shell, however, so if you're concerned that a 99mm width might be just too tight and still want to ensure a snug, performance-focused fit there's no need to worry. Our boot technicians can get your pair molded to a perfect fit in-store.
As with all Full Tilts, the 3-piece construction is the key to their success and for good reason. Unlike traditional designs, the ribbed front tongue and infinite pivot rear cuff allows the wearer to ease into the flex without bottoming out – eliminating shin bang and shell distortion and maximising control over the boot. Full Tilt’s iconic cable buckle system will keep your feet right where you want them, evenly spreading pressure across the front of the boot. The three buckles work with J-shaped inserts in the liners to lock the ankles down and prevent heel-lift, allowing for maximum control through the boot. When you’re all done shredding for the day, simply loosen off the buckles and let the tongue come fully forward – it opens 90 degrees for easy access and a quick exit.
Featuring dual material outsoles and textured scuff resistant lower shell, durability is paramount with these ski boots, and the shock-absorbing boot board lends itself to all different aspects of freeskiing. Whether you charging big lines and cliff drops through choppy snow or lapping the park, the 2021 First Chair 100 GW from Full Tilt is a solid set up for intermediate or lighter users that will continue to perform all over the mountain.
