The 2019 First Chair series takes all the classic concepts that make Full Tilt boots so popular, and throws in a few tweaks and updates that rally bring out the best in freeski performance. They use the Soul shell- an updated boot clog that keeps the excellent heel hold and cosy 99mm last width of the Original shell, but adds a little extra room in the forefoot to avoid cramped toes. A fully heat-mouldable outer shell also allows skiers to push out any space needed for comfort while retaining a snug, performance-focused fit.

A 6 flex tongue keeps this boot fairly easy-going. Equivalent to a 90 flex in the traditional alpine scale, it means that this boot can be a good option for less experienced and intermediate skiers, skiers with lighter builds or simply for skiers looking for a softer flexing boot that eases them into landings, butters and presses. This flex works perfectly with the infinite pivot of the rear cuff to allow a smooth, progressive boot flex, which efficiently transmits power to the ski without distorting the shell, for maximum control and comfort.

One of the most recognisable traits of Full Tilt boots is the cable buckle system. These cables run across the ribbed tongue of the boot, spreading pressure evenly to eliminate pressure points, and attach to ratchet clasps on the side of the boot which are easy to adjust. Updated metal buckles add durability, and when unbuckled the tongue can pull out so it's really easy to take the boots on and off.

Intuition liners are the best you can come by - the foam that they're made of is amazingly insulating, comfortable and moulds to the user's feet. This can either happen slowly over time with use, or can be heated in-store and immediately moulded around the customers foot to dial in that ideal fit. The particular liner found in the First Chair 6 is a Performer Wrap liner, which wraps fully around the foot, ankle and lower leg for a cosy but precise fit that gives great performance.
