About the Head Kore 93
Following the success of 2018, the Kore Series returned for the 2020 Season. Head have produced a ski that consists of only what is necessary, resulting in the lightest ski in its category. With the approximate weight of the Kore 93 (180cm) being 1580g it is in line with a lot of high-performance touring skis. Yet the Kore is actually a freeride ski that is as capable of GS-style turns on the piste as it is dropping cliffs in fresh powder.
The innovative construction is what leads to the Kore’s phenomenal lightness. Head have made the Kore from a combination of Graphene, Koroyd, and Karuba wood resulting in a ski that is unbelievably versatile. Graphene is currently the strongest and lightest material known to man, making this ski extremely stable and powerful at high speeds but also extremely easy to use at slower speeds. Koroyd is a honeycomb-shaped material that is at the centre of the Kore. It's super strong as well as being flexible, allowing the wood core of the ski to retain its natural flex. Finally, the Karuba wood core gives the ski great amounts of pop and liveliness as well as being at the heart of what gives this ski its distinctive personality.
As well as these core materials the Kore 93 also features a triaxial weave of carbon to add rigidity, for supreme edge hold and unbelievable responsiveness making it feel truly at home on the piste. Graphene is fused into the tip and tail to reduce the swing weight of the ski and increase the amount of flotation, improving the float in soft snow as well as increasing the manoeuvrability all over the mountain. The stability of the Kore is added to by the Koroyd material used. Its shock-absorbing properties allow for a smooth and stable ride that feels extremely dependable.
The combination of multiple new materials in the Kore series can be extremely mind-boggling. Put simply the end result is a ski that blurs the boundaries of powerful yet playful all-mountain/freeride skis and touring skis. It is a dependable ski that is truly a one quiver ski. From charging on-piste to touring deep into the backcountry you will feel comfortable everywhere. Its lively and solid personality will have you pushing your limits all over the mountain to previously unattainable levels.
We would recommend the 2020 Head Kore 93 for advanced to expert skiers looking for something to use every day; on piste, through bumps, tracked day-old powder, and every aspect of the backcountry. Its distinct lack of weight lends itself to being a touring ski that you can truly put your faith in.
