About the Macpac Microlight Classic
With its ultra-low pack-weight and surprisingly spacious interior, the Microlight Classic Tent from Macpac is a firm favourite among trekkers and backpackers looking for a 4-season camping shelter built to cope with wet and windy conditions.
On the inside, the Microlight features an angled floor design balancing room for one person and kit with porch space for sheltered cooking and storage as needed. Venting provides airflow and manages condensation while a double door offers both insulation and added airflow with a midge-proof mesh to guard against insects. This gives you a range of venting options; keeping you cool and insect free in warmer seasons while sealing out wind and cold during winter camping trips.
For waterproofing, the Microlight comes equipped with a UV30™ SI flysheet. This 30D double ripstop fabric is both tough and light with a silicone treatment - inside and out - to deliver unbeatable waterproof protection from the heaviest of downpours and reduce damage from UV rays to give you a long-lasting product. The Torrentwear™ XP bucket floor uses a densely woven nylon fabric with a PU coating for 10,000mm of waterproofing to resist groundwater, tears and abrasions. Please note, the Microlight needs to be manually seam-sealed with SilNet™ seam sealer (provided).
The single-pole design minimises weight while an intelligent ground stake and guyline system increase support and stability for pitching in exposed terrain. For when the weather permits, the classic Multi-Pitch™ design lets you pitch the inner/outer separately. This can reduce pack weight to a mere 1.4 kg, greatly adding versatility. The Featherlite DAC NSL pole is specially designed for the ultralight tent market; blending low weight with a high-strength construction to reduce pack-weight and increase stability when pitching in exposed terrain.
With its small pack size and weight of 1.6 kg, the Microlight from Macpac is a great solo shelter for fast-moving trail and cycle tours, multi-day treks, and minimalist camping weekends. The versatile design and performance waterproofing is guaranteed to withstand the challenges of a range of climes from downpours in the South Island Fiordlands to summer in the South Downs and beyond.
